Back to school freedom walk

WHEN: August 19th, 2023 at 11:00am

WHERE: We will meet at Restoring Justice: 100 Jackson St. #120 Houston, TX 77002 (This is a family-friendly event).

After an introduction to our work, we will leave the office for the prayer walk and be done after about an hour.

WHAT: Imagine sitting in jail without hope because no one is visiting you or speaking up for you to get out - and coming through the openings high above your head, you hear prayers and songs from the street. At our Freedom Liturgies, Restoring Justice, partners, and allies from the community gather and walk to Harris County Jail to sing songs and pray for our 10,000+ brothers and sisters inside. Invite a friend, and join us!

Our community is the jail. In 2022, 27 detained persons in Harris County Jail died due to inhumane living conditions, overcrowding, and neglect/violence at the hands of jail guards. So far, in 2023, there have been eight deaths. These are just a few existential threats our clients have to face, along with others in our criminal legal system. We're committed to pursuing Christ's Justice by ending mass incarceration one client and heart at a time, and we are calling for the churches in Houston to join us first with prayer and lament for freedom for us all.

This event is Free! Invite a friend, and join us!
